The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a corporate body established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, with the mandate of promoting and facilitating the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective, and transparent administration of justice. The Commission invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the position of Chairperson, Business Premises Rent Tribunal:

Terms Of Service:
The tenure for Chairperson of the Business Premises Rent Tribunal will be three years and is eligible for reappointment for one more term of three years. They shall serve on part-time basis.
Remuneration:
Subject to Section 11(ii) of the Landlord and Tenant (Shops, Hotels and Catering Establishment Act, Persons other than public officers appointed under the provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall be paid such emoluments or allowances at rates determined by the Judicial Service Commission in consultation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Constitutional and Statutory Requirements for Appointment:
Applicants to this position must be qualified to be appointed as a judge of the High Court. The applicant must therefore hold the following qualifications: i. Hold a law degree from a recognized university, or are advocates of the High Court of Kenya, or professionally qualified magistrates, or possess an equivalent qualification in a common-law jurisdiction. ii. Have at least ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic, or legal practitioner, or such experience in other relevant legal field. iii. Have held the qualifications specified in paragraphs (i) and (ii) above for a period amounting, in the aggregate, to ten (10) years; irrespective of whether that experience was gained in Kenya or in another Commonwealth Common-Law jurisdiction. iv. Qualification and experience in alternative dispute resolution will be an added advantage. v. Have a high moral character, integrity, and impartiality (meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity).
