VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is a corporate body established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, with the mandate of promoting and facilitating the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective, and transparent administration of justice. Section 75 of the Public Private Partnership Act 2021 provides for the establishment of the Petition Committee. The Commission therefore invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the positions of Chairperson of the Petition Committee.

Terms Of Service:
Under Section 75 (3) of the Public Private Partnership Act 2021, the term of office for the Chairperson shall be three (3) years and may be eligible for re-appointment for one further term.
Remuneration:
The remuneration and allowances of the Chairperson of the Petition Committee shall be paid at rates determined by the Judicial Service Commission in consultation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications::
Section 75 (2) (a) of the Public Private Partnership Act 2021 provides that a person to be appointed as Chairperson of the Petition Committee must be qualified to be appointed as a judge of the High Court. The applicant must therefore hold the following qualifications; i. Hold a law degree from a recognized university, or are advocates of the High Court of Kenya, or professionally qualified magistrate, or possess an equivalent qualification in a common-law jurisdiction ii. Have at least ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic, or legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field; iii. Have held the qualifications specified in paragraphs (i) and (ii) above for a period amounting, in the aggregate, to ten (10) years; irrespective of whether that experience was gained in Kenya or in another Commonwealth Common-Law jurisdiction. iv. Qualification and experience in alternative dispute resolution will be an added advantage. v. Have a high moral character, integrity and impartiality (meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity). vi. In addition, the applicants should demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, good judgment, wide breath of both legal and life experience and demonstrable commitment to public and community service.
